Febril status epilepticus in children. Series of cases of children admited at Dr. O Alassia Hospital, Santa Fe Argentina period 2015 to 2018

Abstract
Introduction: The status epilepticus is a neurological emergency that needs intensive measures with high mortality. It is defined as the activity of more than 30 minutes of constant activity or 2 or more seizures without recovery of conscience in between seizures. Being the fever the most frequent etiology in the pediatric age.
Principal aim: to describe epidemiological aspects of febril status epilepticus suffered by children admitted from 01.01.2015 to 14.04.2018.
Secondary aims: - To define etiology - To determine predisposing factors
Material and methods: Analysis of clinical histories. Patients´ clinical evaluation. It is an observational and analytical study. Demographic analysis, review of complementary studies and treatments.
Results: 53 patients 31 males 22 women, medium age 1,65 years. All interictal electroencephalograms were practiced to 36 patients, 6 with paroxysmal focal activity and 2 with generalized activity 34 patients , fulfilled neuro-images being pathological 8. Clinical presentation as first event 41 patients of them 7 with pathological precedents. Etiology of feverish area: 5 encephalitis, 6 pneumonias, 4 Gastroenteritis, 1 Sepsis, 1postvacinal, 36 area in respiratory. Treatment: 50 needed treatment of the first line with benzodiazepines being 11 as pre hospital treatment, only 4 needed anesthetics. Only 7 of those of presentation like the first event had pathological precedents.
Conclusions: Median of age of presentation 1,67 years. Etiology most frequent was respiratory. 36 electroencephalograms were practiced, being pathological 8. Only 11 received treatment prehospital, only 4 needed anesthetics. Only 7 of those of presentation like the first event had pathological precedents.
