BACKGROUND: The aim of this study is to retrospectively analyze the clinical and laboratory findings of our migraine patients.

METHODS: Patients with migraine were included in the pediatric neurology clinic for three years. Clinical and laboratory features of patients with migraine were retrospectively reviewed. Two subgroups were compared statistically as migraine without aura and without aura.

RESULTS: There were 91 girls (63.1%) and 53 males (36.8%); a total of 144 patients with a mean age of 12.99 ± 2.68 years were included. 57 (39.6%) of the patients had aura migraine, 85 (59.1%) were migraine without aura, and 2 (1.38%) were migraine-like episodic syndromes.The mean age of the patients with aura was 12.99 ± 2.68 years and the mean age of the patients without aura was 11.87 ± 2.75 years (p = 0.017). 44 (48.4%) of the migraine female patients and 13 (24.5%) of the male patients were followed as migraine with aura (p = 0.008). Of the 144 patients diagnosed with migraine, 27 (18.8%) were below 10 years of age, and 117 (81.3%) were over 10 years of age. There was no significant difference in terms of acute exacerbation treatment (p = 0.355) and prophylactic (p = 0.582) treatment in which migraine with and without aura were started.

DISCUSSION: Assessment of headache, which is a common cause of pediatric outpatient clinics, with a good history and detailed physical examination is very valuable in terms of the diagnosis of migraine headache.
