A Toddler with Myasthenia Gravis Ocular

Background Myasthenia gravis is an extremely rare autoimmune disorder affecting the neuromuscular junction. The incidence rate is 0.9-2.0 cases per 1 million children per year. Ocular types are more common than generalized and the age of onset earlier than generalized type.

Case description : A case of a 2 years old with Myasthenia Gravis Ocular type progresses over the past 2 months and presenting with ptosis that disappears  next morning after rest.No family history with myasthenia gravis. Physical examination findings ptosis in both eyelid.Laboratory shows elevated Acetyl choline receptor antibody. EMG musculus levator palpebra decremen response greater than 10% and Chest X Ray demonstrate no thymic mass., Prostigmin test that support diagnosis of Myasthenia gravis.

Treatment using Pyridostigmine 7 mg/kgbb/day was effective in controlling ptosis symptom.
