Neuroimaging findings in Neuromyelitis Optica spectrum disorder and mimics
Last modified: 2018-09-09
Abstract
In this presentation, we will discuss a few cases of demyelinating disorders and discuss the imaging findings in NMO spectrum disorder including Aquaporin 4 +ve, MOGS positive and their mimics.Distinguisging between the various NMO spectrum disorders has therapeutic and prognostic implications.Optic neurtis in Aquaporin 4 positive NMO may be asymmetric or unilateral. The brain involvement follows the distribution of the Aquaporin 4 water channel. In MOGS positive NMO, the optic neuritis is bilaterally symmetric and long segment. There is minimal cord involvement. Pulvinar and limbic involvement is known. These imaging findings help to distinguish betweeen these conditions.
