Abstract

Alcohol consumed by a pregnant woman interferes with normal developmental progression of thefetus resulting in CNS and physical damage that subsequently has several lifelong healthconsequences. This damage leads to fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). FASD includes fetalalcohol syndrome (FAS), partial FAS, and alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder. Back toseveral years ago people supposed that alcohol on interact with neuron. Recently some articleindicated that neuroimmune system also involve in this pathological process. Our team detect theexpression level of Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3 or SOCS-3) which is the primaryinhibitor of IL-6 signaling, interacting with gp130, the common shared chain of the IL-6 family ofcytokines, and JAK1, JAK2 and TYK2 to control both the duration of signaling and the biologicalresponse. According to our Elisa test the expression level of IL-6 in Alcohol exposure group isobviously higher than the normal control and sham intubated group. While the expression level ofSOCS3 shows the opposite trend. And we also found that the astrocyte is activated. These findingshow us astrocyte may also in related to the FASD. That may help us figure out a potential treatmentto FASD.
