A live FLICNA podcast exploring the neurological manifestations of paediatric rheumatological disorders, with a focus on recognising atypical presentations, navigating complex diagnostic challenges, and distinguishing systemic rheumatological disease from important neurological mimics.

About the topic
Paediatric rheumatological disorders can present with diverse neurological manifestations, occasionally preceding the recognition of the underlying systemic disease. These presentations may closely mimic primary neurological conditions, posing significant diagnostic challenges.
The session will explore atypical neurological presentations across paediatric rheumatological disorders, including neuro-SLE, Takayasu arteritis and systemic vasculitis. Emphasis will be placed on recognising clinical clues and interpreting neuroimaging, vascular and immunological findings to distinguish rheumatological disease from infectious, vascular and neoplastic mimics. Through challenging case discussions and expert panel perspectives, the session will provide practical approaches to diagnostic reasoning and timely management.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognise atypical neurological presentations of paediatric rheumatological disorders through challenging clinical cases.
- Differentiate rheumatological neurological involvement from important infectious, vascular and neoplastic mimics.
- Interpret clinical, neuroimaging, vascular and immunological clues to navigate complex diagnostic dilemmas.
