Yasmin Khakoo, MD, FCNS, FAAN, FAAP is a triple boarded child neurologist/neuro-oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and President-Elect of the Child Neurology Society. She cares for children and young adults with primary brain tumors but has an interest and expertise in the prevention and treatment of neurologic complications in patients receiving cancer treatment. Dr. Khakoo specializes in 2 rare conditions: neurocutaneous melanocytosis and neuroblastoma associated opsoclonus myoclonus ataxia syndrome. After graduating from the AAN Women Leading in Neurology in 2019, she became Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Neurology. She received the 2023 Child Neurology Society Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award, the 2024 American Medical Women’s Association Inspire Award, 2025 AAN A.B. Baker Teaching Award and the 2025 Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation Compassionate Care Award. She is an advocate not only for her patients but also for the underrepresented in medicine, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ people and the differently abled.
