[Comment] Implications of a pathophysiological framework for cerebral amyloid angiopathy

Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is characterised by the deposition of amyloid β (Aβ) on brain blood-vessel walls, and is the main cause of lobar intracerebral haemorrhage in older individuals. Despite the poor prognosis of cerebral amyloid angiopathy-related intracerebral haemorrhage, which is associated with a high risk of recurrence, there are no treatments to prevent or stop this disease. A definitive diagnosis requires histopathological evidence, but the disease can be diagnosed according to MRI-based or CT-based criteria.
